glockenspiel (2.5 octaves G-C)
Crotales (2 octaves C-C)
Metals:
Crash/ Splash/ Ride/ HiHat/ 18' tam tam/ 24' tam tam
3cowbells/ 2 triangles/ pipes/ 2 break drums/ tin cans etc.
Woods:
5 Woodblocks/ 5chinese temple blocks/castanets/ etc.
Glass/ Ceramics
Wine Bottles, rice bowls etc.
Drums:
Kick Drum/ Floor Tom/ Hi Tom/ Bongos/ Tambourines
(No medium tom/ concert bass drum, djembe or other hand percussion)
*No marimba/ xylophone/ tubular bells/ timpani/or other large pitched percussion instruments*
Think of my set-up as vibraphone + other percussion. Writing for large set-ups (using everything on the
list) are tough to not only set in my studio but to schlep to rehearsals and concerts. They also tend to
slow the pace of a show if too many equipment changes are involved.
